The Possibilities

Are Endless ~ E-Triage

Dr Raymond Campbell created a mobile medical solution to reach underserved communities. Using a bus, the mobile clinic also helps the government determine whether it is feasible to build a permanent clinic in a particular area.

Together, the Phulukisa health app and bus can disrupt the primary healthcare market and enhance patient care while decreasing cost. In this way Phulukisa can screen the top seven preventable diseases in South Africa and as much as 70% of the adult disease burden.

Continuity & lowered cost.

“Reduce patient waiting time at clinics, and ensure records are always accessible.

Automated triaging through the cloud will reduce patient waiting time at clinics, and ensure records are always accessible. Storing patients’ information in the cloud also allows for continuity across different clinics and different clinicians. Clinics and specialists will no longer have to open their own file on each patient.

The current cost per patient for basic testing, including blood and urine tests, is R480. With the bus and mobile app this can be reduced to about R120 per patient. Cutting down on the need for and the occurrences of duplicate testing, will also result in additional cost savings.

E-triage saves

Time and Lives

After having analysed all the variables, patients are given a score between 0 and 100, that translates as an output into Green, Orange or Red. Based on the colour, the patient either is seen electively or immediately.

The e-triage system relieves the burden

on attending doctors who has to see all patients, because they have no way of determining who is critical beforehand
